Tsunza Mangrove Restoration – 87,200 Seedlings Planted
In June 2025, Furaha and Baraka Farms, in partnership with Seahorse Energy and Kenya Ports Authority, spearheaded the planting of 87,200 mangrove seedlings in the Tsunza Block of the Mwatsumbo Forest ecosystem in Kwale County. The initiative engaged over 650 community members, including four local conservation groups, to restore degraded mangrove zones. With species like Ceriops tagal and Rhizophora mucronata, this effort enhances biodiversity, stabilizes coastlines, and empowers the local Community Forest Associations (CFAs)—especially women and youth.

Restoring Roots, Rebuilding Futures in Pongwe–Kidimu
In June 2025, the quiet shores of Pongwe–Kidimu in Kwale County came alive with purpose. With sleeves rolled up and hearts united, 206 community members, many of them women and youth, gathered to plant over 206 mangrove seedlings along the coastline. This was more than just a tree-planting event. It was a community reclaiming its environment and its future.
In partnership with Princos Ltd and Kenya Ports Authority, and supported by 23 vibrant community-based groups, the restoration effort not only strengthened the ecosystem but also deepened local ownership of conservation efforts.
